Portraits

I want pictures of my children and family. What is the process like?
Photographing children is a pleasure. My approach is to capture children as they are in their natural environment. It is best to shoot in the evening and I prefer to be outside as I believe the outdoors is one of the best backdrops. Usually, I will come to your home and that is where we will start. I’ve found that small children are most at ease in their own space. After a while, we will go to another location if everyone is up for it. I think this is fun and I like the variety this brings to the images.

How long does a session last?
A typical session (engagement or family) lasts approximately two hours, but might go longer if there is a location change or depending on the flow of the session. With very small children, it is important to keep them connected and happy so a session can be shorter because of their needs. I’m able to capture a lot of images quickly so even a shorter session will produce many beautiful images.

I need a portrait of myself. How does that work?
Ideally in person or over the phone if necessary, we can determine what we want to convey in your portrait. We will discuss clothing and what kind of setting will be best suited for your portrait. Then we will schedule a time and place to create your portrait. In some instances, portraits are intended to be used for publication. Color profiles and file specifications are very important and that is something I am happy to handle for you.

How do I see my images afterwards?
This is the exciting part!! Within three weeks of your session, I will send you a link and password to view your images online. You can share the link with your family and friends. Two 11x14's or four 8x10 prints are included in all portrait sessions and selection of those images will be determined after you have viewed your images. It takes about two weeks after your selection has been made to receive your prints.
